A Different Perspective: Parasailing Off the Florida Coast

What’s the most spontaneous thing you’ve ever done?

I’m generally a pretty spontaneous person.

But parasailing off the Florida coast? That one still sits near the top.

It was the last day of our trip, and my wife somehow talked me into it.

As we started going up, I was scared, anxious, and questioning every decision that had brought me there.

I’m pretty sure I was gripping her hand hard enough to cut off circulation.

Then something changed.

I relaxed.

I stopped thinking about how ridiculously high we were and started looking around.

The ocean stretched out beneath us. The coastline looked completely different from up there.

For a few minutes, I got to see the world from a perspective I’d never experienced before.

Suddenly, I wasn’t scared anymore.
I was amazed.

There’s something humbling about realizing how damn small you are compared to this massive, powerful world around you.

Then our feet touched the water, and we eventually landed back on the boat.
I remember this overwhelming rush of joy.

Not because I survived.

Okay, maybe a little because I survived.

But mostly because I fucking did it.

And I got to do it holding the hand of my biggest supporter, the center of my world, and my soulmate.

That’s probably the most thrilling and spontaneous thing I’ve ever done.

So far…
