I don’t think I’ve ever taken a trip longer than a week.

However, there have been several week-long adventures over the years.

So far, my favorite has easily been Maui, Hawaii.

The culture, atmosphere, and scenery were unlike anywhere else I’ve experienced.

However, what stuck with me most wasn’t something you could photograph.

It was the respect the locals had for the land, ocean, wildlife, and nature surrounding them.

There seemed to be an understanding that these things weren’t simply there for our entertainment.

Instead, we were visitors in their world.

That perspective has stayed with me long after the plane ride home.

Maybe that’s what makes a great trip anyway.

You come home, but somehow you don’t come home exactly the same.
