The short answer on how to avoid failure is simply this, don’t give up.

Daily writing prompt
How has a failure, or apparent failure, set you up for later success?

Once upon a time, I wallowed in self-pity. Struggling with depression, I sought solace in alcohol. Neglecting my transitioning son, I disappointed my other kids. My marriage seemed like a joke. Little did I realize, these were not failures after all. I was simply, consistently inconsistent. And these supposed failures were opportunities.

Reflections on Failure and Success

The Traveling Expert writes: Failure and success are like frenemies, shaping personal journeys. Embrace failure, grow with resilience, persistence, and flexibility. Seek support, reflect, adopt a growth mindset. Learn from Edison, Oprah, Jobs. Tenacity, resilience, growth mindset turn setbacks into opportunities for success.

Realizing the root cause of my struggles was like finding a treasure map in a pile of laundry. Seeking help for an alcohol problem or depression isn’t admitting defeat; it’s flexing your superhero muscles. Embracing failure; success!

The Secret Rainbow

Recognizing the battles my son faced in this new chapter of life was like discovering a secret superpower. It gave me the courage to be the dad he deserves, the dad who wears socks with rainbows unapologetically. Supporting him, asking questions, and learning about my own identity.

Understanding my shortcomings as a father to my other kids was like realizing I’ve been trying to assemble IKEA furniture without instructions. Seeking their forgiveness isn’t waving the white flag; it’s planting seeds for a garden of stronger relationships.

Saying Goodbye

Divorce wasn’t a failure; it was like Marie Kondo-ing my life, decluttering toxic energy. Breaking free from chains of dysfunction led me to a land of hope, where healing dances with freedom under a rainbow.

Conclusion

In my journey of transforming failures into opportunities, I’ve unlocked a vibrant new existence. It’s like finding a hidden treasure. Embracing my flaws has led to a profound sense of self-awareness. Instead of just existing, I’m now thriving. It’s as if I’ve finally woken up from a long nap. I’m no longer stumbling through life aimlessly. I’ve taken the reins and am steering my own ship. It feels empowering to be in charge of my destiny. Self-love has become my guiding light.
